ITHEOCEAN
LETTER HOME
New release from the Outsiderville label is a minimalistic indie pop track from itheocean. Maria Baibakova's project focuses on transforming complex feelings and emotions into beauty, as well as transforming the experience of living with a mental disorder into music - Maria has bipolar disorder type 1 and a number of other mental disorders.

Pop-electronic release with elements of folk sincerity and direct touching emotionality from itheocean project by Maria Baibakova from St. Petersburg is not just music, but a cosy little world, where every note and every text becomes a reflection of the author's inner state. The music of itheocean combines neat minimalism and drama, creating an atmosphere of bedroom-pop in its purest form. This is music that is not afraid to be vulnerable, speaking frankly about feelings familiar to everyone: love, nostalgia, memory, hopes and fears. It becomes a kind of bridge between the listener and the artist, where emotions turn into a common language of understanding, into a gesture of contact.

The itheocean project is not just indie pop, but a multifaceted creative space in which the influences of folk, film music and trip-hop intertwine. Maria Baibakova uses music as a tool to explore complex and sometimes dark themes, turning personal experiences and everyday moments into something beautiful and universal. Her work is not only a way of self-expression, but also a form of psychological processing, where emotions and impressions are embodied in sound and words.

For Maria, music and creativity in general is also a way to accept and creatively rethink her experience of living with mental disorders. She has been diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder type 1, ADHD, complex post-traumatic stress disorder (cPTSD) and dissociative identity disorder. These conditions become not just a part of her life, but a source of inspiration, allowing her to speak about difficult topics with sincerity and depth.

In addition to music, Maria also engages in literary endeavours. She is writing a series of fantasy books called The Element of Death. Her books, like music, become a way to creatively rethink complex emotions and experiences, turning them into rich and intricately woven stories. You can read her work on the Author.Today platform:

Maria Baibakova's work is a synthesis of music, words and emotions, where each composition becomes part of a narrative about human fragility and strength.
