The itheocean project is not just indie pop, but a multifaceted creative space in which the influences of folk, film music and trip-hop intertwine. Maria Baibakova uses music as a tool to explore complex and sometimes dark themes, turning personal experiences and everyday moments into something beautiful and universal. Her work is not only a way of self-expression, but also a form of psychological processing, where emotions and impressions are embodied in sound and words.
For Maria, music and creativity in general is also a way to accept and creatively rethink her experience of living with mental disorders. She has been diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder type 1, ADHD, complex post-traumatic stress disorder (cPTSD) and dissociative identity disorder. These conditions become not just a part of her life, but a source of inspiration, allowing her to speak about difficult topics with sincerity and depth.
In addition to music, Maria also engages in literary endeavours. She is writing a series of fantasy books called The Element of Death. Her books, like music, become a way to creatively rethink complex emotions and experiences, turning them into rich and intricately woven stories. You can read her work on the Author.Today platform:
